Mark, re Post-it notes and reflectors: It really is the Post-it note and maybe partly the tape, I regret to have to inform you.

Here is how I tested. I covered the clear plastic window with masking tape. Then I inserted the Zip disk into my IDE internal Zip 5 times. It was immediately ejected each time. Next I covered the masking tape with chartreuse Post-it note and covered the Post-it note with Scotch tape to fasten it securely. Then I inserted the Zip and it stayed in. Next I deleted a file and recreated it. Then I protected and unprotected it.

I don't like this one bit. The only thing I can think of that would mitigate this unfortunate finding is that IOM requires the reflector in a later model (say Zip+). If not, I am at a loss to understand what the reflector patent does to protect the Zip disk from being copied by anyone.
