I think that looking back this will be seen as a major event in Aware's (hopefully) future success in the field of ADSL.

From the Westell thread
Interesting that Ericsson announces the use of the ADI solution and ADI
announces licensing from AMTX today. I take it Ericsson is interested in having
interoperability between the MOT and ADI solution. Ericsson needs a silicon solution
now... not later. Westell has CAP and is willing to wait for the MOT solution... until
later.

It looks like ADI/Aware is wisely positioning themselves to serve as the glue between diseparate systems. While other vendors are interested in proving that they provide the best solution, ADI/Aware is maneuvering themselves to be the bridge between different vendor's DMT solutions. These companies want to deploy quickly and aren't willing to decide on which vendor's system will eventually prove superior, ADI/Aware provides them with some flexibility to handle these diseparate systems. While DMT is suppose to ensure interoperatibility as set down by the ANSI standards, I think that that goal is still a years off and that we will have a few messy years before us.

In a sense, this also frees Aware to be non-standard. They can now offer a higher performance (proprietary mode DWMT) between ADI/Aware nodes and still be able to communicate with the rest of the world.

I am just thinking off the top of my head, so please feel free to correct any erronous notions
