Barnett He goes off on a bit of a rant. Which is fine. Steyn's column was delivered speech as a last month. I caught the last part of it on C-SPAN. Really pessimistic. It has caused a terrific amount of blog comment. I was taught back in the early 70s to be aware of the advantages of being a short term pessimist and a long term optimist. To do otherwise is not mentally healthy. It's hard to stay that way with the constant negativity from the left. I used to put most of it down to partisanship. But I am becoming convinced that it now the permanent outlook of the left.
