The world first Amphibious Car/water car was designed by a Chinese farmer - Wang Hong Jun in Oct. 2002 single handed. Only one year later in Sept. 2003, Britain made it public of their own amphibious car.

Some comparison bet. the two:

The Chinese farmer spent 13 years for his water car from the design to the finished product. He has NO decent workshop, has no professional training, no any automatic equipment and no any outside funding either. So basically, his car is a hand made one by himself alone. He is NOT rich by any standard either. His car has a speed of 190 kilometers an hour on ground, and a speed of 40 kilometers on water.
Here is the picture for the water car designed by the Chinese farmer.

The British water car used 7 years to develop and more than 70 engineers involved, at a total cost of US$27 million. The British water car has a speed of 100 miles (or 160 kilometers) an hour on the ground, and a speed of 30 miles (or 48 kilometers) an hour on water.
here is a picture of the British model (understandably, it does looks better<g> but it cost millions of times more.)

Now, Wang Hong Jun is working on the revised model, and wants to challenge the British model.
BTW, Wang was born in 1965, so only 40 years old. And here is a picture of him (the one in white t-shirt)
