elliott's second self titled solo release! only a year after roman candle, elliott signed with kill rock stars and released the 12 song record.

this record also marked the first time special guests appeared on an elliott record with rebecca gates (the spinanes) singing harmony on st. ides heaven and neil gust (no. 2) playing guitar on single file

coming up roses became elliott's first solo video. directed by ross harris.

production notes
elliott smith was recorded mostly in jan/feb 1995 at elliott's friends house (leslie and tony) except for needle in the hay and alphabet town which was record in sept. 94 at tony lash's house.
