"If you're going to listen to the conversations of an american citizen you need a warrant."

So unequivocally you believe the Commander in Chief (the head of all military operations) in his role of protecting the nation should not be able to track terrorists once they call the U.S. without getting permission from a beurocratic body? Even when congress has given the President express permission to use all necessary means to fight the terrorists. Weird view imo.

"it's about government in general and what is proper conduct"

The folks can vote the President out if they don't like what he is doing. The problem with the left is that they think a chance to hurt the President is more important than making dang sure that we are doing EVERYTHING that is legal and possible to protect the nation from another 9-11. You guys just don't get it. When and if the President spys on people for political reasons or for personal gain, the honest folks on the right will support your view. But to insist that our President jump through hoops to track terrorists who are sworn to kill as many of us as they can is ridiculous.

What should the President do if there is reasonable suspicion form his pov (and our security experts), but FISA shoots him down (which apparently happens WAY MORE than the dishonest left has indicated) and we miss a call setting up an attack? Is that "better" from the dem pov than potentially listening to a harmless call to or from a terrorist?

Of course it is not. You guys would jump ALL OVER our President if he let that happen. Your side would say (imo) WHY DIDN'T HE USE HIS POWER AS CinC? The thought of Jane Harmon (sl diff't issue, but she is claiming the Pres broke the law by not letting her know) into the picture is ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS.

The problem with your sides view (again imo) is that most of you realize he is not abusing his power, and this wouldn't even be an issue with a dem President. In fact, nary a peep when Clinton did it, and we were not at war with terrorits at the time.
