Cacaito...Thanks for the Sepsis count data. Can XOMA BPI cure pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in Babies, like the 4 little ones that died as reported today on just about ALL national news services. I'm not sure if 'endotoxin' is generated by P.s.? (See details as reported by CNN at:)
cnn.com
p.s. I tried to figure out the above Question, but could find no connection. Anybody, can you find a connection?
Also, thought following Dr. teaching Seminar/course on pseudomonas aeruginosa may have answer; but contact not made, yet. (see course description below:)
Peter Castric (412-396-6319; castric@duq3.cc.duq.edu), Professor B.S. Oregon State University; Ph.D. Montana State University
Dr. Castric's research interests fall in the areas of microbial molecular biology and physiology, and focus on the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This organism is a major agent of hospital acquired infection, due primarily to its antibiotic resistance and to its many factors of pathogenicity. Thin protein filaments extending from the cell surface, pili, are one such factor, and are the subject of research in Dr. Castric's laboratory. Current studies are directed towards establishing the role of the pili in disease and in producing a useable pilus-based vaccine against this bacterium.

Could this be a classical case of Personnel contaminating those w/weakened or not fully established immune systems?
Let's ALL Pray that the etiology is discovered and installation of total prevention practices occur, soon. And, most of ALL, say a prayer for those four little children that passed on, and that the 2 surviving tikes recover fully! |
