Yes. The premium means buying interest. The premium would have been even higher if the arbitragers (you call them broker/dealers, but to me they are arbitragers) hadn't been arbitraging this premium away.

What I see happening is many smaller funds are willingly acquiring GLD at a slight premium because they have to easy means to get gold at a spot to create GLD shares. At the same time some well connected to gold trading boyz in London are making little low risk $$ by arbitraging away GLD's premium.
