"We must, IMO, continue to offer our support, while being prepared to depart the minute the Iraqi people, as a majority, tell us to go."

That may be very soon if we continue to interfere with the shiaa folks in their govt who want to deal with the terrorists and baaathists that are killing their people at funderals, weddings, and shopping. I know the majority of the sunni population is against that violence but thats not the way the shiaa will react. They will clamp down hard on suspects and violate the rights of the sunnis whether guilty or innocent. And after the kurds secure Kirkuk and the shiaa ethnically cleanse bagdad, the sunnis may become the next PA. Hawk, cant you see that a majority of iraqis already are on the verge of asking us to leave thru their newly elected government once it take power. WE cant meddle beyond that point. And what you said in the quote above agrees with me. mike
