Interesting news item at CMP's TechWebsite:

Article states that the GAO just published a report highly critical of most government agencies progress in dealing with the Y2K issue. As a result it has recommended/ordered a majority of the larger government agencies to freeze any computer purchases until sufficient progress is made.

The ramifications of this (if actually implemented) could be huge for those businesses with alot of government contracts. As I understand it, CPQ is not the major governmental computer supplier (though I'm sure that it does a good business with it) . I believe that Dell, Gateway2K, and Micron Electronics all will be affected to a much greater degree.

Any comments? (Pro AND Con, please..... steve!)
