Learned Jeremiah Hand, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Hand began working with scientists to further develop Wellstone's technology in 2000. In addition, Mr. Hand co-founded Warren Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in March 2000 as its Vice President - Chief Operating Officer. From January 2000 to December 2003 he was also Executive Director of the Kenneth S. Warren Institute, a non-profit medical research facility. From 1994 to 1999, he served as Vice President at Morgan Stanley. He has a BA cum laude from Amherst College.

Samuel M. Veasey, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Veasey is the former Senior Vice President and CFO for Vector Tobacco (USA) Ltd., which marketed a "reduced carcinogen" cigarette utilizing carbon and catalytic filters. Prior to joining Vector Tobacco, Mr. Veasey was Senior Vice President and CFO for Liggett Group Inc., one of the longest established tobacco companies in the United States, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. In addition, Mr. Veasey was responsible for all financial activities of Liggett Group including accounting, budgeting, internal control, debt compliance, internal and external reporting, cash management as well as human resources and information systems.

Jere Goyan, Ph.D.
Dr. Goyan is the former President and COO of Alteon, Inc. and served as Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under President Carter. Dr. Goyan is Dean Emeritus of the School of Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco. He is Past President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. He is currently a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Goyan is Chairman of the Board of Sciclone Pharmaceuticals and a director of Emisphere Technologies and Penwest Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Goyan has received the Remington Medal from the American Pharmaceutical Association, as well as numerous lectureships and honorary degrees from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and other institutions.

John H. Lauterbach, Ph.D., DABT
Dr. Lauterbach recently retired after twenty-four years with the Research & Development Department at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation. During his tenure at B&W, Dr. Lauterbach served as Principal Scientist in Scientific & Regulator Affairs and Director, Research Services. From 1993 to 1998, he also served as Chairman of the Board of the Tobacco Institute Testing Laboratory and Chairman of the US Technical Advisory Committee to ISO Technical Committee TC126 on Tobacco and Tobacco Products. Dr. Lauterbach is a frequent presenter at the annual Tobacco Science Research Conferences and is author or co-author on numerous presentations and journal articles on tobacco science and toxicology.

Raymond Ottenbrite, Ph.D.
Dr. Ottenbrite has a very long and productive career in medicinal chemistry with a special interest in the design and synthesis of therapeutically active polymers. He is also widely known for his work on surface modifications of films, fibers and particles, and was the first scientist to publish on the successful chemical surface metallization of films and spheres.

Dr. Ottenbrite has over 200 publications in scientific journals and has edited eighteen books on polymer chemistry with an emphasis on bioapplications. He has more than 16 patents issued or pending. In 1985 he founded the International Journal of Bioactive and Compatible Polymers and has remained editor-in-chief for the past 19 years. He also serves on the editorial boards of three additional polymer journals.

Dr. Ottenbrite has been a plenary and/or an invited speaker at several international meetings each year for the past two decades. In addition to serving on the advisory boards for several national and international scientific meetings each year, he has been directly involved with the organization of at least one international symposium on biorelated polymers annually for the past 15 years. He has been an invited visiting scientist to Japan, China and Sweden several times and will return as a visiting scientist to Japan in 2004 and China in 2005.
