"gene expression can change from one generation to the next, based on environmental events."

Much more than that. The IQ gets higher at a rate of 4 points every decade in First World countries. In Brazil it got 20 points higher as compared with 1970. Better food and better health care are said to be the reason for the increase.

Better food. More complex day to day life at an early age forces you to develop higher IQ to deal with it. Remember what I wrote: One growing in a idiotic society is at a disadvantage vis a vis someone else growing ina a more clever society. because your brain inherit form the environment.

The IQ tests have to become more challenging as the time passes. One person submitted at a test in the 30s and got brilliant results, doing the test today, probably would have had a lower score.

A teenager today have 25% higher score than his grand parents.

Today's kids will bring the IQ scores higher. because they are in touch with an early age with more complex systems, toys, TV programs, films and other kids who jointly digest today's kid's stuff.
