[TI speeches]

Pat Weber's presentation at the Salomon Bros. Technology Conference:

Doc --

Look at what TI spends on R&D and yet they still need help with ADSL.
<<<
R&D continues to be a key part of TI's strategy. In 1997 alone, we will spend more than $1.1 billion on research and development to ensure TI's legacy of innovation continues. . . .

If we look at what is driving demand for DSPs, three factors are largely responsible: Number one, the need for bandwidth expansion - we're seeing this in the cellular market and in the explosive growth of networking - more bandwidth means more DSPs. . . .

We expect strong market growth in the DSP-centric world. And it will come from a wide variety of end-equipment demand. Looking across such critical markets as digital set-top boxes, modems, digital cellular phones, hard disk drives and motors, we see double-digit growth in every area. . . .

The next wave in the semiconductor business is the digital wave. And
we're riding its crest. >>>

And Tom Engibous's speech given at the opening of the Jack Kilby Research Center at TI's headquarters:

He'll be the keynote speaker at the DSP conference in San Diego tomorrow and besides taking notes I hope I'll get a chance to ask a few questions. Like, when do you expect GTE to deploy? What size will the ADSL market be over the next few years? Did you bid on Amati and, if so, at what price? :))

Gotta get some sleep.

Night!
