With reference to that blog, the next war, if it comes to that, will be just as expensive and destabilizing.

Here is an angle I didn't consider:

So the time for Israel or the US to knock out the reactor is before it is fueled up. The fallout of bombing a functioning nuclear power plant could result in another Chernobyl? And the resultant political fallout of that is something I doubt even the Israelis relish.

This brings back the whole question of timing once again. Russia is building the nuclear generating station. If Iran is intent upon using it as a springboard to eventually produce the bomb, then it is only a matter of time. That is exactly how India and Pakistan developed their nuclear weapons. If, therefore, one was convinced that that eventuality is in the cards, the best time to stop it is sooner, rather than later. And Israel did just that against the Iraqi nuclear plant. A precedent has been set.
