put in a 512Mb compact flash and I have a bunch of music right there on my phone. And it is a pain in the ass to carry both the ipod and the phone......so the phone wins out most of the time.

13:57 EDT AAPL, VZ, MSFT, VOD Apple Computer-AAPL's iPod may be threatened by the "new cellphone"-Barron's

Microsoft (MSFT) and Verizon Wireless, a joint-venture between Verizon (VZ) and Vodaphone (VOD), believe that the "new cellphone" is the next iPod. Starting on January 16th, Microsoft and Verizon Wireless will begin their cellphone assault on Apple's iPod. While some 40M Americans have an iPod, nearly 200M have cellphones, that they rarely leave home without. Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, said "people will, over time, carry one portable device" and "the phone is that core device." Verizon Wireless will begin a marketing campaign for its V Cast Music, which will allow customers to download songs over the air for $1.99, which will also include a second copy that will be sent to that users computer. Users will also be able to download songs from a Microsoft-operated website for 99c and then copy the songs to their cellphone.

(i have the Mot E815 , already obsolete though has memory slot for music but has to be accessed thru menu ,need earphones cause its Bluetooth won't work for the MP3 player(crap)maybe not capable of all the frequencies?.... newest phones have MP3 controls on the outside fascia for easy control, geniuses as they are )
