That was a different era in pro football. THe game was much more personal than a business (at least in the players eyes) and retaliation and payback was the norm.

I used to love when Letterman would have Art Donovan on as guest. The stories he would tell from the '50s & early '60's were unbelievable.

Re: Cheap Shot - Gloop I will disagree with you on this one. I remember when Randall Cunnignham went down on opening day against the Pack (I believe the game was in Milwaukee) via a shot to the knee by Bryce Paup. I never thought that shot was cheap; it was more on the lines of being unfortunate/tragic.
