Maybe you meant: <<people who try to time the market consistently underperform those who sit on their holdings>> because this is evidence that buy and hold is the "best" strategy. I question that, now that commissions are so much lower than when those studies were done. Cisco has much too much risk for someone seeking 10% per year. And, <<NO ONE knew Cisco was going to be flat all of 2005>>, no one on this board except me. I was within 1% of the close on 12/30. You'll probably say I didn't "know" and it was a guess.
