Brite Awarded $2 Million By TeleSTET for Prepaid Service

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- In a contract valued in excess of $2 million, TeleSTET, a subsidiary of STET, has selected the Voice Services Director (VSD) platform from Brite Voice Systems to provide prepaid telephony service in Greece. STET is the holding company of Telecom Italia Mobile, the largest cellular network in the world.

The service, called B Free, was launched in May by TeleSTET. It enables a subscriber to use the TeleSTET network without the obligation of paying monthly fees in a term contract or by receiving monthly bills. The subscriber is issued a mobile phone and SIM card loaded with a fixed value. To activate the phone, a subscriber calls TeleSTET's customer care and then uses the network in the normal way.

Once the prepaid amount is finished or is near finishing, the customer simply has to purchase a ``scratch card'' and, using the mobile, calls the Brite VSD and keys in the digits from the scratch card. This prepaid service allows customers to control their expenses in advance and allows companies to issue mobile phones to employees without the risk of receiving unexpectedly large bills at the end of the month.

``We have been consistently evolving the cellular market in Greece and now with the launch of the B Free service, we will be revolutionizing it,'' said Giacinto Cicchese, managing director of TeleSTET. ``We see the launch of this new service as part of our policy to introduce multiple tariffs and to reach the much wider consumer market for mobile telephony. We are very pleased to work with Brite on this project and are excited about the potential of this service in enabling us to improve our market share in Greece.''

Stuart Hallam, Brite's chief executive officer for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia stated, ``We are delighted to renew our cooperation with TeleSTET following the supply of our Voice Dialing service in 1995. The prepaid services touch the core activities of a cellular operator and we believe there are enormous opportunities in this market place. Brite remains committed to helping create revenue growth for our customers with our technologies.''
