Nomai responds to my e-mail:

I sent Nomai an e-mail (from their website feedback page) and
expalined my displeasure with them for ripping off Iomega's technology
(e.g., 'patents exist for a reason...') I was not terribly polite,
so at least Mr. Polet had the courtesy to a)respond and b) respond in
a civil manner.

I still think that what they are doing is no different than
bootlegging in the music industry or piracy in the software industry.
Hopefully the courts will agree...

Thank you for your comment.

It has been a rule in the computer industry that compatible product
appear when success is established.

This was the case for the PC . Compaq made a clean design compatible
computer in 1983-1985 . The industry needs the compatibility to grow and to expend.

We did not steal anything from Iomega and we do not intend to. We have
been producing compatible media to the leading removable drive
company since 1993. We entered the market with SyQuest compatible
media. Iomega was then the exclusive world wide distribution channel
for the Syquest compatible cartridges made by Nomai.

The US laws allow compatible product and are in general against
MONOPOLY. This protect the user by allowing lower prices.

Best Regards
NOMAI
