It is the "elephant in the room" when it comes to discussing drug legalization. Agree with that, Hawk. Most people that feel that drugs should be legalized don't want to really deal with the social cost issues.

Re: education for kids and using drugs.....If they are legalized, will there be mandatory classes to be attended BEFORE anyone gets whatever their drug of choice will be? Will there be warnings on the packages showing pictures of the folks who have used, and what they look like when brought into the hospital emergency? Will "meth mouth" become a poster for drug use and result of? Or a poster of shared needles showing AIDS?

If drugs are regulated and legalized, who will determine the cost? Where will they be stored? Will the currently illegal drugs be dispensed at a regular legal drug store, or a whole new bureaucracy set up? Will the purchaser sign his/her agreement to financially pay for any damages to themselves/AND or others for the possible side effects of using these drugs? If the US Government or individual States are in charge of the "legalized drugs", where will they purchase them from? Or will they make their own brand?

And a whole host of other as yet unanswered questions.
