Building gets shakes for second day running

LILLE, France (Reuter) - A large shopping and office complex in the center of the northern French city of Lille was evacuated Tuesday for the second time in as many days after one of its 12-story towers inexplicably started shaking.

Police sealed all entrances to the glass-and-steel complex after clearing it and called in engineers to examine the building's foundations.

Thousands of people had to leave the Euralille complex on Monday afternoon when the strange vibrations first appeared in one of the three towers. The complex contains a shopping center, offices, apartments and a parking garage.

Lille mayor Pierre Mauroy told journalists experts had found no reason for the shaking on Monday and could not spot any abnormalities in the structure.

I'll bet they forgot to check the janitor's closet. <g>
