Hi, Del!!! Gee, I'm not sure where to start here. EVERYONE is alone in the universe, in the most essential way. About the only truth I have found that softens this fact is that people who have known us for a long time--mates and children--at least seem to care about the essential aloneness, and try to bridge the gap sometimes. I DO have some ideas about how to make VERY long-term, dead or dying relationships better, if you are interested in advice from a woman who usually falls somewhere between classy and scruffy. In fact, I have a veritable arsenal of relationship revival tricks up my sleeve, available right here or by email.
Now, Del, I did make it clear that I only watch those silly comedies for a cheap laugh, and to spend time with my daughter. They are pretty definitely mostly girl programs. Well, except for Mork and Mindy, which I liked originally because it was fresh and new and from some sort of separate reality I was attracted to at the time. Robin Williams really appeals to me, is probably the essential truth of my attraction to that program.
Al Bundy and Rodney Dangerfield are sexist pigs!!! I cannot really imagine you being much like them, except that they both perceive they get little respect. I hope that's the part of them with which you identify. Kramer is totally cool. Steven Hawkings has a brilliant mind, but I am more attracted to men who can feed themselves and perform what I would call essential manly feats!!! You know, that whole cucumber theory of sexual appeal.
Um, about poetry, I don't really like poems with a ton of hidden symbolism that require a decoder ring or anything. When I was studying literature, I was attracted to twentieth century prose and poetry because understanding the symbolism is easier. I think scholarly ripping apart of works for hidden meaning sort of detracts from the enjoyment of them, and it is a love of words that I feel, and I think poetry should be really alive.
If you didn't enjoy the poem, it doesn't really matter what fertile triangles represent, anyway, unless the explanation makes you like it more on a second reading, and somehow I don't think you are rushing back to that post to try it again!!!
Oh, well!!! I bet your pico de gallo is good, anyway. Thanks for your sensitivity in not using a lot of unnecessary bags that put further stress on the planet!! |
