Alito Is Well Prepared for Hearings

I agree. Alito is well prepared and he is a slam dunk to be confirmed. He is not in any way revealing how he would decide issues coming to the supreme court. At least, not in so many words, but I know from his facial expression and body language:

1. He is against abortion. His mom knows this as well as anybody else. He will have the rest of his life to work on some legal means to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

2. He is for tradition. He supported trying to keep Princeton the way it was in the past with few if not any women and minorities enrolled. Even though he boasted in 1985 on a resume of his membership in a club whose members said outrageous things about Jews, women, and minorities, he does not now remember being active in that organization.

3. He has more memory problems wrt how he reneged on recusing himself from a case involving a mutual fund (Vanguard) investment of his 12 years after he said he would recuse himself from cases involving people and organizations from a list of his own making that included his mutual fund investment. At first they tried to blame it on a computer glitch and then Orin Hatch thought that there was an implied time limit that that list was subjected to. Although I don't think he did anything unlawful, I think that explanation is a bit too weasily for an aspirant to the SC.

4. Similarly, his words about how no one was above the law, in reference to limits on Presidential powers, there were some weasily language about how things may need interpretation.

Somehow he does not give me the comfort I need for someone to be sitting on the SC for the next 25 to 35 years.
