"Iran is suspected by many nations of working towards the development of nuclear weapons, but even this justification has been tossed into a cocked hat. Recently, Russian president Vladimir Putin bluntly stated that Iran is not developing its nuclear capability for any reasons beyond peaceful energy creation, and pledged to continue assisting Iran in this endeavor."

That is the essence of the problem right now, and you can't lose sight of that one single fact. Zionism in Israel and Zealots in Washington is a fact, but even if one could eliminate these, the danger of future nuclear weapon development by Iran would forever exist in any case, and could threaten and endanger the world at some future time. As an outside observer, it seems to me to be a crazy situation over there. There are apparently no shortages of people willing to lay down their lives as human bombs, and by extension, would probably not fear a nuclear confrontation.

If you think the area is hot now, can you imagine what it would be like if Iran actually had the bomb? The tension would be unbearable in Israel and the Arab world. A shot would not have to be fired, just a demonstration of their capabilities would be enough to bring shudders throughout the whole world. Economically, the effect would also be dramatic.

As you pointed out, Israel is a very small country, both in area and population, and thus cannot afford wars to be fought on her soil. They, of course, are acutely aware of that. They could not survive even a small nuclear exchange.

Today, Blair wants to take Iran before the UN Security council over this matter, so things are definitely heating up.

But maybe Iran and Israel will embrace like two long lost brothers in love and trust forever?
