It doesn't take being from Texas to play coy. We even learn how to do that up here on the Great Plains. Of course this is flyover country as well. Belief in God is one way to gain the self confidence necessary to live humbly. IMHO it is the most important element, but I recognise that there are multiple paths. Hillary also hates the intelligence community. She treats the Secret Service officers dedicated to protecting her with contempt and does not permit them close enough to effectively guard her. Who knows if they have thwarted any attempts on her life. You are correct that President Bush recognised that he could not run for reelection. He slowed his PR work, and the press pounced on it and attacked relentlessly. Only recently has he returned to the public forum to justify his case for various causes. His popularity increased when he put himself in front of the public.
