Especially in the 4-32 socket server market, Opteron is by far and away the better performance choice, especially when power consumption is factored in. And Mickey D did say that AMD was a distinct possibility... That's if you can trust Mickey D to speak the truth. Personally, I think talk of using AMD's chips is a plot hatched up by Mickey D with the inadvertent help of INTC due to their rivalry with AMD that is intended to keep INTC's chip prices down while working to slowly drive AMDroids over the edge. If so, he has been reasonably successful at both goals.
