I'm not so sure about that! It stresses ME to have to look at it! Messes up my appetite, clogs up the aisles in the grocery store, takes twice as long at the buffet line, takes up half my seat on the plane, and that's just as an observer! As an employer, (of course I can't tell someone this as they're applying for a job, but) I don't think people get fat by working hard or moving fast! I have enough to worry about with workers getting injured - the last thing I need is a bunch of people dropping dead from HEART ATTACKS! As for government intervention, who 40 years ago would have dreamed that it would come to what it is with smoking. Nobody ever HEARD the term "second hand smoke" back then!
