Am trying to sound 'bright and airy' and went to our meeting today...heard a wonderful former Navy officer, who is now in the FBI, very ably tell us some of the things we should all be aware of about the Patriot Act. We don't discuss politics at our meeting, but one thing she said that is just common sense, is: first, asked us show of hands, how many had ACTUALLY read the Patriot Act. NO Hands in the air!!! And this was today a group of about 50 ladies who are smart, and care about such things.....and in fact, some of whom are among the critics of the PA. NOT ONE of them, nor the folks who are in favor of it, had ever read it....(about 138 pages I think she said)
Then she proceeded to tell us some of the rumors about it that are not true. Bottom line for me is that the CIA and the FBI are now able to discuss National and International terrorism together. They weren't able to do that before. Even before the Gorlick Wall....She was careful not to mention Gorlick, but did mention the double wall of before.
On the way home, I stopped, did an errand, then stopped at the library, and while doing only a bit of research, nearly fell off the chair I was so fatigued....So had to come home and rest. Knew I was tired, but this was way unusual....Dang...Still have a few more things to do that are on my "list for today".... |
