It's worse than that. Illegal immigrants here are a significant source of foreign exchange and income to Mexico, through the money they send back. Cheap labor is a valued export of Mexico.

That's what I meant by pressure valve. By sending money back to Mexico, the money covers shortfalls in production or growth as well as the fallout from major corruption.

As an American living in LA, you feel like you have little control over your city. I watched whole neighborhoods get taken over by illegals. And of course, once the illegals move into a building, the landlord stopped maintaining it. It becomes a huge cash cow for the landlord.
