Re: Israel, as you pointed out is a very small country with a very small population. Israel is acutely aware that it cannot afford to fight a war on its own territory, and certainly can't take a nuclear "first" hit and survive.

SIZE DOES NOT MATTER... as far as unconventional warfare is concerned, I'm afraid. If a nuke were set off in a major US city then the US, as a multiracial, democratic polity, won't survive either.... Just see how its self-inflicted 9/11 terror strike already drove the US to curtail civil liberties, to set up Guantanamo, to erect an anti-wetback fence along the Mexican border(*), etc.

Re: There is no doubt at all in my mind that Israel will do everything in her power to try to preserve her nuclear superiority over her perceived enemies for as long as it can.

Does that entail nuclear blackmail against perceived traitors as well? Does it forbode nuclear terrorism by Israel against European wimps?
