Al-Sadr has the full support of the Mullahs and old gaurd politicians in Iran. I believe this alliance was woven into the deal struck between he and Sistani to end the previous insurgency. However, Al-Sadr is also a racist Arab, so he will kill any Persian who attempts to establish power in Iraq outside of that.
