WalkMan~

nice descriptions of your morning walk
and of the "energy of the city"...

i've always enjoyed walking at night,
or in the very early morning.
when i was a teenager, every night
i used to take my dog (an alsatian)
and go for midnight rambles
that went on for miles,
and arrive back home around 2 or so.

when i visit friends i often go off
wandering in the evening, or get up
before dawn and roam the neighbourhood.

at night, it's nice to walk through a
neighbourhood you've never been to,
and see the houses with their lights on
and just absorb the atmosphere....

early morning is neat if you're visiting
a strange city, because you can get up early
and go for a ramble to check out what's
happening, walk to a bagel shop or such,
and, once again, pick up on the atmosphere.

of course, i've occasionally made friends
a little concerned..

"What? You're going out for a walk
after dark? You might get lost!
People don't usually walk alone here
at night!"

What can I say? Been walking around
at night all my life.
