While I was fiddling here on SI I was playing an episode of "Criminal Minds" that I recorded last night. In it the FBI team leader broke into a house to find a kidnapped kid while the rest of the cops were figuring how to get a warrant. There was no discussion about how it would affect the prosecution, though. Perhaps intentionally violating rights is only common on TV...
