Awhile back when I told a few people here they should look at KFx they insisted it was a scam and that Asensio said it was a scam so therefore it was a scam. I don't have a clue who Asensio is but I spent a great deal of time researching the process, this company and Sasol Lurgi (who provides the processors). Nothing looked like a scam to me.

This process has been around for a long time, it just wasn't economical in years past. That is all changed as we continue to deplete high btu eastern coal and natural gas also is in shorter supply. Coal is the answer to our energy needs. I have sold some into this rally since the announcement of successful production. I sold because I had too much money on the line.

The big issue and one that I am most concerned with is whether or not the management can execute on this process. They tend to be very generous to themselves and others with stock options and that is disturbing. I also think it was ridiculous to grant stock options to Arch Coal given that KFx is responsible for the full cost of a plant at one of Arch's mine sites. Arch will sell what is now worthless coal to KFx for which Arch got options on KFx stock at various prices. Sweet deal for Arch, stupid on KFx's management's part. I'd sell all my stock but I think that the market will soon understand what this is all about and take the stock higher. I am sure more deals are coming. But unless management starts focusing on its strategy and less on rewarding themselves, this company will go the way of certain others. I am not sure they are capable of handling the growth prospects. We'll see, but I feel better for lowering my exposure.
