So it appears we have 2 flavors of Zip, one that works with aluminum foil and one that doesn't. Mine, which is an internal IDE that's a few months old, works with aluminum foil.

Could everyone who has or will try this also post what Zip model you have and approximately how old it is?

We still need more information about every aspect of this challenge to assess the risk properly. Some here think Nomai will prevail, other are just as sure IOM will. We need more facts.
