Let's not forget that we and British hand to hand screwed their democratic uprisings in 1953 and 1979. The results were despotic Shah for former and existing despotic religious rulers for latter year. In 1979, the exiled Khomeini was given the microphone in France first. The 1979 democratic movement against the dictatorial Shah diverted on the same microphone and by supports of west to Islamize their movement by addressing his sultanate turban followers and paid thugs. Those years, we needed a green Islamic belt against USSR (shame!). It is more prudent to long and support for their true desired democratic system this time. Majority of them dislike their repressive regime and are struggling with one of the most repressive system ever existed. Citizens do not have basic freedoms and any amount of unacceptable voicing or action against the religious organizations or officials considered intolerant will easily result to sever punishment to the individual and the family members. They have people spying people (our shame!). We selfishly changed their course of dynamic democratization. I believe every one of us and our government is obliged to support their populace fighting in their freedom movement against this brutal theocracy system. They are entitled to be a free nation with rules of law and civil society free of our domination. Actually, Iranians are non-Arab and this religion was savagely forced upon them in apex of Islam power. They carry original civilized traits and are very proud of human rights and have fought for last 100 years to get rid of the poisons of their Muslim Arab invaders. Unfortunately, our civilized world didn’t realize this fact as detriment for long term goal and instead for our short term strategic and monetary gains, we did vehemently disservice them. We ought to assist them in many ways this time so that they can truly to establish their long desired democratic system. They can and will influence the entire region to democratize and become free economy which in result benefits the entire world’s economy. True, we may pay little more for the gas, but huge market for every sector of our economy can not be ignored including our vicious military sector. Otherwise, China will continue and supports the despotic theocratic system.
