Still I'm not sure about going "after campaign ads the same way we go after misleading advertisements about products and/or services? Sounds like a nifty idea to me.
Politics and political programs are a lot less clear then chemical side effects from drugs. Whoever wins, whatever they say, someone would find something that was dishonest or otherwise actionable. I don't really want to open up that can of worms.
If you do, you might get a ton of lawsuits, or you might get even less talk about the issues than we have now (if Candidate X doesn't mention any real issues it will be hard to sue him for lying about them). Neither of which would be a good thing IMO.
