"Side effects may include broken promises, higher taxes, unnecessary wars, terrorism, and bureaucracy, which can lead to cases of vomiting, outbursts of anger, depression, bankruptcy, schizophrenia, and sexual side effects. Politics is not for everyone. Consult your physician or your sense of common sense before deciding."
LOL
Still I'm not sure about going "after campaign ads the same way we go after misleading advertisements about products and/or services? Sounds like a nifty idea to me.
Politics and political programs are a lot less clear then chemical side effects from drugs. Whoever wins, whatever they say, someone would find something that was dishonest or otherwise actionable. I don't really want to open up that can of worms.
If you do, you might get a ton of lawsuits, or you might get even less talk about the issues than we have now (if Candidate X doesn't mention any real issues it will be hard to sue him for lying about them). Neither of which would be a good thing IMO.
