And thanks Sergio. Yup, the shares started down about the time of the 20mm share sale, and not after the disaster (1/3/06). The link you pointed to says that the proceeds of the offering will make ICO the only debt-free coal company. Of course, that may have been the plan at the time....

I'm thinking that the whole down move should retrace, as the disaster investigations disclose that the company is upgrading safety and has the capital to make good on commitments. Electric generation contracts are renewing at higher levels, thanks to China's support of the world coal price, and an ever-cheaper dollar which will allow China to continue to buy coal painlessly. As primitive as this industry seems, half of US electricity still comes from burning coal.
