What is funny is that Homestake is usually the only example used on gold site to show that mining companies did so well during the Depression. Here's an example where the author uses it as a proxy for the whole sector:

gold-eagle.com

Due to an acute dearth of accurate and complete records for this period covering gold mining stocks, this writer was obliged to use Homestake Mining as a proxy for the entire gold mining industry. One may appreciate from the chart below the contra-cyclic price trend of gold mining stocks vis-à-vis the overall stock market during the 1929-1935 period

You have to ask yourself why are there no records of other companies if they all did so well in the Depression, wouldn't they still be around or at least still have been around during the run in the 1980s? Records are almost always difficult to find on companies that go bust.
