Oh really? And can Hong Kong refuse entry to anyone they like from China, such as Hu Jintao, telling him to take a hike if he wants to visit? I didn't think so. I remember fleets of CCP soldiers roaring into Hong Kong at takeover to demonstrate that they have indeed taken over.
There are two separate customs areas and a few different economic rules, to some small bureaucractic extent, but one is subservient to the other and it's not Beijing ruled by Hong Kong.

TJ, you are obviously confused about freedom. Me not being allowed entry to China to spout political rants is different from a Hong Konger not being allowed into China for the same purpose.
TJ, people go to live in HK to make money. Then they leave. People need money. We did it = went to live in less desirable places because there was loads of money there. Then, having collected sufficient money, cleared out again. They don't go to Hong Kong for the wild blue yonder, feeling of freedom, yearning to breathe free in the polluted air. It's primarily cash.
Thanks for the link heritage.org and I note the skids under New Zealand, sliding from number 2 behind Hong Kong to falling off the bottom of the top 10, tied with Oz/USA [which Americans can't understand; they think the USA is the land of the free and the rest of the world is a crowd of serfs, which we are, but they are too]. Helengrad is dragging us down, but the public voted for that. They should not moan as the place goes down the gurgler, since they voted for it to do so [not that they think they did].
