I suspect it is the idea of economic freedom that will motivate people more than political freedom. In the most oppressed places, it may be reversed. Either way, the exposure to freedom by a people similar to themselves will make it more real. As long as freedom was across an ocean and you had to leave your culture and your friends behind, there were many who would not make that leap.

You examples of Europe and Russia are right on. Let Freedom ring. Let its pean be the beacon that draws our world out of darkness.
