I'm sorry some have developed the idea I dislike New Zealand.

I like New Zealand, but it is a startling contrast to Australia. Australia has an expansive and optimistic character.

By contrast, New Zealand always seems rather dour with an economy which feels to me like an eternal recession, regardless of the actual current state of business opportunities.

Wellington, the nation's capital seems to be the sole exception, filled with bright ambitious people excited about their lives and surrounded by the art community. This leads me to assume that government is the primary avenue of opportunity for ambitious and talented people who wish to remain in New Zealand. If my perception is true I think its an unfortunate state of affairs. The people of New Zealand deserve better.

I think if anyone compared similar sized towns in New Zealand and Australia the difference in character would be immediately obvious, even if they described that difference from a different perspective.
