I haven't noticed him defending Islam as much as defending Islamists. A subltle difference, yet worth noting.

Mostly I see him just as Anti anything of the administration, Conservatives, etc.

That is a sad position to take as neither party is excuslively wrong,so if one simply opposes anything in it's entirety, unless it is entirely wrong, they fail those issues that they both should embrace.
