"However, Iran is doing exactly what it takes to get themselves in a position to annihilate the Jews."

No they aren't. They still haven't done anything about the nuclear weapons that Israel almost certainly has. In addition, Israel is more than capable of building delivery systems that the Iranians can only dream about. Whatever else you might want to say about the Iranians, they aren't stupid.

What Iran wants is to be the undisputed power in the region, with the possible exception of Israel. Because of our Iraqi adventure, they have an excellent chance at it. Which is why the rhetoric has heated up recently, it is pretty clear that a unified Iraq will be dominated by the Shiites and a Balkanized Iraq has the biggest chunk being almost all Shiite. It is a win-win for them, either way. While it is possible that Shiastan will want to be independent, it is very dangerous for them. Much safer to join with Iran one way or another.
