Don,

The network services line includes such products as GroupWise, ManageWise, NetWare Connect, LAN WorkPlace, etc. Basically, all the add-on products outside of OS sales.

As they say, quarter-to-quarter and year-to-year comparisons are difficult, due to all the channel stuffing and then holding back. Someone would have to do a detailed analysis of each line for each quarter for the last two years to really have an idea what's declining and what's not.

On a similar note, education revenues decreased in the third quarter for the same reason. Education revenues come primarily from sales of student kits for classes, which the education centers buy from distributors, and sell to students as part of the class fee. Some of these sell to education centers for close to $1,000, but I would be surprised if Novell's cost to produce them exceeded $25. These were also not being shipped to distributors during the quarter.

Jerry
