Texas is full of gays too. In Houston, they are greatly appreciated, dominating the retail world, church choirs and the arts. They do nobody any harm.

The only reason the GOP runs anti-gay campaigns is that they use this as one of their wedge issues to divide and conquer the poorly educated conservative southern whites. And by doing so, they get those same poor or workingclass whites to vote against their own self-interests. Like the West Virginia coal miners. Bushies in 2000 immediately scrapped mine safety standards. As a result, miners die. Perfect example. But many miners voted for Bush because they were lied to and told democrats would take away their guns or were attacking Jesus.
