One month after Iraq's Dec. 15 election, a shift is afoot that will probably weaken Shiite political clout as the country's factions enter serious negotiations to form a new government.

Increasingly, the US is throwing its weight in Iraq behind Sunni Arabs, about 20 percent of the country, to ensure they are part of a new coalition government.

Here we are meddling, meddling, meddling.......like we always have........doing the very thing that helped to estrange Iran from the US in the first place. We claim we want democracy in Iraq but we won't go along with the results of an election that we heralded and that everyone is claiming was fair.

Then twenty years from now......when some extremist Shia terrorists fly jets into Congress, the supporters of this rather inconsistent foreign policy will scream bloody murder and demand revenge. Then we will invade Iraq a second time........only this time it will be to level the place.

Since Reagan first messed with Iraq and Iran, we have learned absolutely nothing.
