TXN will sell a lot of WCDMA chips. QCOM will also sell many, as well as Freescale and others. As far as you original contention that WCDMA is really GSM and not CDMA, think what what you want? What really matters is that the Euros pay royalties to QCOM for your 3GSM while QCOM pays nothing to the Euros for 3GSM.
