Listened to most of DVAX CC and here's my take:
Sure the Booster results anomaly is confusing, but I don't think it really destroys the credibility of the non-Booster arm significant results. For one, the Booster arm did show a positive trend. Secondly, given the many variations in pollen counts between seasons and the use of anti-allergy medications by the subjects it's not hard to imagine reasons why the Booster results were anomalous. (I do wish someone had asked how the placebo results differed over the two years.) In any case, under the trial protocol, and after two years, I think it's pretty amazing they got significant results. And, for me, the take-home message is that toll-free technology has a great future.
Meanwhile, so far the market likes the results with DVAX trading up $2 after-hours.
Full disclosure: I own DVAX in real-life and (more importantly) in my 2006 Charity portfolio.
