Upgrades: Goldman Sachs upgrades Linear Technology (LLTC 37.36) to Outperform from In Line as they expect that the analog semis will come back into favor after several years of investors favoring higher beta if we are correct that the semi cycle is poised for a slowdown over the coming quarters... Piper Jaffray upgrades Qlogic (QLGC $36.06) to Mkt Perform from Underperform and raises their tgt to $36 from $28 following better than expected Q3FY06 results and a stronger than expected guidance... Jefferies upgrades SFBC Int'l (SFCC 18.12) to Buy from Hold with a $25 tgt saying based on conversations with new mgmt, competitors, and some regulatory representatives, they think risk issues and deficiencies are being addressed... Downgrades: Goldman Sachs downgrades Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 33.37) to Underperform from In Line following Q4 results, saying earnings reports from AMD and LRCX suggest that the semi cycle has likely reached a point of unsustainability, with both companies reporting/guiding to peak margin levels and offering bullish outlooks for their businesses, typically a sign that cyclical companies have gotten a bit ahead of themselves... Goldman Sachs downgrades Lam Research (LRCX 38.32) to Underperform from In Line as they believe the semi cycle has likely reached a point of unsustainability, with both AMD and LRCX reporting/guiding to peak margin levels and offering bullish outlooks for their businesses, typically a sign that cyclical companies have gotten a bit ahead of themselves... JMP Securities downgrades Dynavax (DVAX 4.35) to Mkt Perform from Outperform as they believe TOLAMBA registration pathway is unclear and no impactful clinical data is expected for the remainder of ‘06.
